The purpose of High Voltage Valley is to further develop the world-leading position the region has in electrical power technology and our business concept is for High Voltage Valley to be the arena where various actors and skills work together to develop tomorrow’s technology and companies in electric power technology.

High Voltage Valley was formed at the end of 2005 and the initiator was the regional development company AB Samarkand2015 in collaboration with Hitachi Energy (then ABB), Stri, KTH, Uppsala University and Chalmers. 
High Voltage Valley has been a regular part of AB Samarkand2015’s operations since 2014. 

High Voltage Valley is a neutral platform for collaboration between companies, universities and public actors. We collaborate on issues that are important to secure and further develop the region’s world-leading position in electric power technology. Concretely, it concerns, among other things, joint research and development projects, development of suppliers and competence supply.

The result will be different development projects where High Voltage Valley together with companies, academia and companies develop new services, products or processes. Vinnova, the Energy Agency, Region Dalarna and/or the municipalities.

High Voltage Valley is a cluster initiative* where academia, large and small companies and public actors collaborate in various areas that are important to secure and further develop the region’s world-leading position in electric power technology. Concretely, the collaboration is about research and development projects, development of innovations and new companies, development of existing suppliers to the electricity industry and ensuring the industry’s need for competence supply. Thus, the business has developed from research to also include other areas that are important for creating renewal and economic growth.
