About Samarkand2015

AB Samarkand2015 was started in 2002 and is a development company with operations within the municipalities of Ludvika and Smedjebacken. Together we work to develop the region and to attract and retain qualified labor. In addition to an attractive labor market, the opportunity for good education, community service and a living environment that appeals to the whole family are also important parts.

Through collaboration within AB Samarkand2015, added value is created for companies, authorities and organizations in Ludvika and Smedjebacken. Together, you get better opportunities to act in the market, to influence different actors and to increase your efficiency and reduce your costs.

The overall vision: AB Samarkand2015 – for an innovative, sustainable and attractive Västerbergslagen.

Main mission

The company's main mission is to increase the region's attractiveness by working with the areas below.

Development work and projects

In order to attract and retain the right skills in the region, not only an attractive labor market is required. The possibility of good education, community service and a living environment that appeals to the whole family are also important parts.

Samarkand runs a number of working groups and development projects where you can achieve development and change in the region through cooperation.

Personnel and competence supply

In order to attract and retain the right skills in the region, not only an attractive labor market is required. The possibility of good education, community service and a living environment that appeals to the whole family are also important parts.

Samarkand runs a number of working groups and development projects where you can achieve development and change in the region through cooperation.

Broaden the labor market

In order to get several different types of workplaces in the region, we need to broaden the labor market.

Samarkand is a forum for cooperation between society, academia and business. We work with the issue, among other things, through entrepreneurial and start-up training, contact with entrepreneurs, support for the companies’ business development processes and the development of social companies.

High Voltage Valley

High Voltage Valley, HVV, was formed at the end of 2005 and the initiator was
AB Samarkand2015 in collaboration with Hitachi Energy (then ABB), Stri, KTH, Uppsala University and Chalmers. High Voltage Valley has been a regular part of AB Samarkand2015’s operations since 2014.

HVV, is a cluster where academia, large and small companies and public actors work together to secure and further develop the region’s world-leading position in electrical power technology.

The collaboration takes place through joint research projects, development of innovations and new companies and through the development of existing suppliers to the electric power industry.

Infrastructure

Samarkand is a coordinated force and a forum for infrastructure issues in Ludvika and Smedjebacken. We act as a driver in matters concerning broadband expansion, rail traffic, road transport and housing.
Some current things are:

Develop and improve rail traffic on the Ludvika-Västerås-Stockholm and Örebro-Gävle routes.

Improve opportunities for road transport, including on national roads 50 and 66 and develop alternative routes for heavier goods.

Work for a functioning common housing market in Ludvika-Smedjebacken. There must be a mixed attractive range that meets population development in the long term and contributes to regional attractiveness.

The Global Goals

For all our work areas, sustainability is a watchword. We have chosen to start from the 17 sustainability goals in Agenda 2030 to show that we live up to our vision “for an attractive, sustainable and innovative Västerbergslagen”.

We work to ensure that companies and organizations in Västerbergslagen are at the forefront when it comes to sustainability work. For us, it is about contributing to ecologically, economically and socially sustainable development. The right action gives companies both better competitiveness and the opportunity to create new business relationships and contributes to the development of sustainable products and services and reaches the market.
