The partners in the collaboration forum Effekt4Dalarna presented the roadmap “Secure Fossil-Free Electricity Supply in Dalarna” in 2021, which included a plan outlining what needs to be done at the regional level to address challenges related to electricity supply. A project is now being implemented to carry out these measures, including various pilot initiatives. The Effekt4Dalarna project is led by High Voltage Valley, with local and regional electricity grid owners as partners.
Partners and funding
All local and regional electricity grid owners participate as project partners, namely Borlänge Energi Elnät AB, Dala Energi Elnät AB, Ellevio AB, Falu Elnät AB, Hedemora Energi AB, Malung-Sälen Elnät AB, Smedjebacken Energi Nät AB, Vattenfall Eldistribution AB, and Västerbergsslagen Elnät AB.
The County Administrative Board of Dalarna and Region Dalarna are also project partners.
High Voltage Valley, within Samarkand, is the project owner.
The project budget amounts to SEK 7.6 million. The project is financed through the European Regional Development Fund, Region Dalarna, and contributions from the participating grid owners.
Project activities:
Increasing knowledge about electricity supply and power capacity
Mapping flexibility services in Dalarna
Developing methods and capabilities to manage increased local electricity production
Methods for utilizing data from new electricity meters
Methods for grid owners to gain knowledge about new heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers
Testing new tariff models
Models for demand response agreements and production control agreements
Co-created grid planning (grid owners), including scenarios and forecasting tools
Municipal energy planning
Power efficiency management
The project runs from 2023 to 2026.
A concrete objective is to reduce peak power demand in Dalarna by 50 MW during high-load hours. Other goals include increased knowledge, improved collaboration and joint planning, and a more developed market for flexibility services.
