Owners and members

AB Samarkand2015 is owned by  Ludvika municipalitySmedjebacken municipality, Region Dalarna, Hitachi Energy and Ovako through the economic association “Samarkand2015”.

Samarkand2015 also has 93 member companies that represent both the private and public sector as well as academia. Representatives from owners and members, the so-called “Samarkandkretsen” meet four times a year. Representatives from owners and members also participate in a number of Working groups and networks

What does membership mean?

As a member of the Samarkand circle, you support Samarkand’s activities and goals.
Through the circle, companies/organizations also get an entrance;

  • A network of decision-makers in business, university and politics
  • A channel to influence social development in areas such as education, research, infrastructure, skills supply including moving jobs, “jobs for both” and “relocation services”, the region’s attractiveness, business development and role in society
  • Exchange of knowledge at, among other things, meetings, seminars, study trips and through news articles and reports
Network

Usually there are some/some people in a leading position who represent the company/organization as a member of the Samarkand circle. A further five people from the company/organization can be updated and then receive invitations to, for example, meetings and   seminars. Among other things, we carry out “Meeting place Samarkand” three to four times a year with interesting presenters. As guests, we have had Thomas Carlzon, CEO of Ikea, Percy Barnevik and Mats Alvesson, professor of organizational and management research. The meeting place is also an excellent opportunity to make contacts as between 80-100 people usually participate.

Samarkand works in a number of areas and with a number of different working groups. Each member company/organization can be linked to such an area/work group. Currently, the following working groups are “run”; The youth group, the housing and infrastructure group, the communication group, the sustainability group, the digitization group and an HR network. The members are also invited to Samarkand’s various seminars.
