Jon Norling will take over as new CEO of Samarkand2015 after the current CEO has previously announced that he will quit.
Jon grew up and lives in Söderbärke, Smedjebacken municipality.
He most recently came from a position as CEO of Västerbergslagens Elnät AB
(VB Elnät AB).
Access to the service will take place in the autumn, at the latest at the end of November.
The board sees that with the recruitment of Jon, they have found a person with a strong root in the region (Västerbergslagen) and who also has well-developed contacts against both business and the public sector.
This continues to drive Samarkand’s broad and important operations forward.
AB Samarkand2015 is Västerbergslagen’s regional development company. The company is owned by Ludvika municipality, Smedjebacken municipality, Region Dalarna, Hitachi and Ovako.
In addition to the owners, Samarkand has approximately 90 member organizations from the public sector, academia, business and civil society. The common denominator for these actors is their connection to Västerbergslagen and a joint commitment to the region’s development.
Since the start in 2002, the business is based on active cooperation between the various actors in society. The work focuses on regional development in areas such as competence supply, infrastructure and business development. As a development company, it is crucial that the organization continues to be driving and relevant in its work for the region’s future.
